CHALLENGE CUP STILL GOING STRONG
SAM ROCK
LEADS POINTS SERIES

Randi
Tragni has come up with a great new FCR points series
that will last all year. These are bone-stock 4.5" FCR cars
with lexan Nascar bodies. This means they are inexpensive, easy

SUNCHASER
INTERNATIONAL THINGEE PROXY RACE -- SUNDAY, AUGUST 8th
we had a bunch of guys hang out and race scratchbuilt
Thingee-stlye slot cars from around the world. After they got
used to the idea that they weren't racing against each other,
but instead just seeing how many laps they could put on the cars,
they got into it. Hot dogs, baked beans and chips were doled out
by The Vitter and Harley, and
everybody decided these cars were not only beautiful to look at,
but a blast to drive. Read all abut it on this
SlofForum thread.
And
if that ain't enough, this year's Durl's Enduro will be running
Thingee bodies!

THURSDAY
NIGHT SCALE ACTION JUST DON'T STOP! Thursday
nights at Slot Car World are a blast, with 16-D Nascars
on the Blue King. Then, we usually run womps or
falcon/flexi LMPS or even FCRs on The Motherlode. The last
few weeks have seen our mutant version of IROC-style racing,
with everyone bringin a car to race, no matter what kind of car
it is. Then, we all just move our controllers at the lane change
and leave the cars where they are. This way, you don't even need
to have a car, you just race with us. Cool, huh?
The
madness starts at 7:30 every stinkin' Thursday night! |

STUFF FOR SALE
We
have a lot of talented folks around here, and they create a lot
of cool stuff for slot car enthusiasts.
Ernie
Layacan's Alchemy Motorsports makes some of the most beautiful
slot boxes on the planet. We've got a great one in the display case
that you should definitely check out. Cap'n Ernie Koepf's
Elektra bodies are truly amazing, well made and really
affordable. We've got a nice selection hanging on the wall right
now. Ron Steege has been making great decals
and resin bodies for quite a while now, and folks really
love 'em. And there's Durl's interiors, too.
Next
time you stop by, check out the locals.

VALLEJO
FOODIES !!!

The
economic downturn has had some surprising silver linings in Vallejo.
A recent upsurge in the number of ‘foodies’ has caught
the attention of some residents, especially some of the four legged
residents. The popular gourmet hobby, once thought to be the exclusive
domain of the chardonnay elite, has taken hold among the demographic
spectrum in Contra Costa county. Take for example Ahmad
Freezeekia Dupree of Tennessee Ave, the most recent convert
to the popular craze; “Like I be hungry and shit and I be
out on the Ave? Then, like I seez ‘em just walk’in around
and –Wham! I throws his furry little ass on the grill, Dog.
And like I don’t mean like you, Dog. I mean like bar-bee-cue
dog!"
Barbecued
dog?
Although dog is not anything uncommon as a food in some parts of
the world, it is a relatively new sensation here in Vallejo. The
Korean culture has enjoyed dog for years as have other cultures.
When asked about this Korean connection Mr. Dupree was quite specific,
however. “Don’t give that Kim Chee shit ‘bro,
‘cause I don’t play that. That stuff be nasty-ass bad.
How they get that even be so rotten? Is by me.” Well there
you have it, breaking tradition and giving new meaning to the old
song, “How Much Is that Doggy in the Window” How much
per pound, that is. |
